Ode

Ode to Old House

The creme walls hold the secret whispers
the leaf walls grasp onto the unforgotten memories
and the autumn walls share the bonds of years.
Crayon marks line
the white trim that follow the walls
around the pictures and toys used and neglected,
you have been through it all.

You gave us a home
more than a house
more than another place for a footprint
to be left.
A unique clone you were
with candles and somewhat off tuned
pianos.
With places to
hide
and places to
play

You were more than a living
square.

  1. Lovely! What a nice tribute to your home. You have some beautiful lines and make me feel nostalgic about the home I grew up in. The ending is really well done, too.
